Narain is one actor, the entire Malayalam industry is looking forward to as the next potential super hero.
The actor who is good at dancing, humor and emoting had been a part of quite a number of hits like For The People, Achuvinte Amma and Classmates.
Narain who is much selective in Malayalam was not much seen in the industry this year, due to his hectic Tamil schedules. But in Kollywood also, he is one of the successful heroes with his latest Pallikoodam also doing very well in release centres.
Narain is having an Onam film this year too with Ore Kadal, which has Mammootty in the lead.
Remember, last year its was his Classmates which was the biggest hit among Onam flicks, Narain who is entering wedlock by the 26th of this month will join a new film in Tamil Sathyasodhanai next month.

Lal Jose is a gutsy director in Malayalam commercial cinema who is willing to take a risk as long as he is able to give something new to the audience. Right from his first film `Maravatur Kanavu,’ he has proved that the script is of prime importance. Lal Jose has proved once again that it is not stars but the novelty in the story that matters most in the making of a blockbuster.
James Albert says that he had approached Lal Jose with a complete script of `Classmates,’ written according to the sequence of the scenes. Initially Jose was reluctant to listen to the story but once Albert started the narration, he was truly hooked. Now this gutsy director is coming to Kollywood to do a Tamil film. Albert who penned Classmates is also designed the story for this Tamil film in a unique way. This untitled film deals with a pragmatic acute water scarcity problem faced by the villagers.
The director has requested Dhanush to do the lead role because this will be a challenging role for him. This film is being produced by an NRI settled in Dubai. The shooting of the film take place in Kovilpatti.
Sometime ago there were rumours that Kamalini Mukherjee, the Bengali girl, who won the hearts of Telugus with two of her films 'Anand' and 'Godavari' is almost ready to quit the films.
The film magazines in Chennai published articles that she is planning to return to her modeling field. However, she refuted all those rumours and sacked her PROs who were allegedly responsible for such rumours.
Moreover, she started accepting films in Tamil as it is the Tamil media which had tried to spread rumours about her quitting films. Moreover, her first film in Tamil with Kamal Hassan in the lead, ''Vetteyadu – Veliyadu' was also proved a hit and after that she gave green signals to play heroine against two young heroes like Dhanush and Simbu.
With the release of 'Lakshyam', the Tamil version of Telugu film 'Style', wherein she played heroine with Prabhudeva and Lawrence, she would further expected to earn more name. Even in Telugu she is now busy with 'Classmates' opposite Sumanth on Sravanthi banner.
With more number of films on hand, she is expecting that her career would be very bright in the near future.
Nana who is considered to be the macho man is encircled with rumour. It is heard that he is having a good time with his classmates daughter, Punam Doipode, a 27 yr old aspiring actress. Punam admits that they have been seeing each other since August, when she came to Nana's apartment during Ganesh Chathurti.
Nana and Punam's parents were classmates and so the actor knows her since childhood. It is heard that their love story began when Punam returned from US after a stint of modelling. Nana and Punam were also seen dinning at a suburban restaurant in Mumbai, lost in deep conversation. Apparently, the two often spend a good time in Nana's apartment. On being asked about his link-up with the young girl, the actor denies it saying, " She is only a child yaar."
Wonder how Nana can deny the fact when Punam herself has come out in the open and confessed about her link-up with Nana! It would be better if Nana consults with Punam first before giving any clarification. It seems like Nana is all set to make another Nishabd and that too in his real life!
In a sudden twist, the Bengali beauty Kamalinee Mukherjee, Cheran's heroine in Karu Palaniappan directed Pirivom Santhipom, has been unceremoniously sacked! She has been replaced, by Sneha, one of Cheran's Autograph heroines.
Kamalinee shot to fame in Tamil playing Kamal Hassan's wife in Gautham Menon's smash hit Vettayadu Vilayadu. Earlier she had done a few films in Telugu like the arty Anand and Godavari, and recently Classmates which bombed.
Actually when she was signed to do Pirivom Santhipom, Cheran was gushing over her, and also tried to teach her Tamil, so that her lip sync would be correct! Later they did a photo shoot, and even shot for 10 days, before Cheran and Karu had difference of opinion with her.
There are also rumours that Kamalinee was demanding the moon, and the producers thought that it would be better to drop her from the project. Meanwhile Cheran had a talk with Sneha, one of his favourites, who had no ego issues, being Kamalinee's replacement.
Lal creations, the biggest banner of present Malluwood cinema has surprised everyone with their announcement of the new film.
The big news in the trade is that Lal is going to back Sunil alias Naren, who never made it as an independent hero in Malayalam though the actor dreams of making it big in Tamil.
Lal who feels that Naren has the looks and the basic acting capabilities to make it big in Kerala has titled the new film with him as Panthaya Kozhi.
The heroine of the film will be Tamil actress Pooja. The film is directed by M.A Venu. Lal has also decided to start the film by February 5 and to release the film for Vishu along with the biggies.
The Malluwood who has been in immense pressure in the lookout for young heroes with initial pull will definitely find this film a clear chance for establishing a new hero.
More over Lal has never created a flop as a producer in the last five years. Lal has produced and distributed some of the biggest hits of recent times like Tenkasi Pattanam, Thommanum Makkalum, Chandupottu and last year’s super hit and the biggest grosser of all times Classmates.
Lal Jose, the director of the biggest hit film in the history of Malayalam films, is a very modest person. He followed his 'Classmates' up with another offbeat hit film, 'Arabikatha'.
The director is now taking a short break before he begins his next film. He also is acting as director Lal Jose in his close friend Ranjit's new film. That is his way of taking a break from work.
You have had a series of hits- 'Chaandupottu', 'Classmates' and now 'Arabikatha'. You must be a very rich man...!
"I'm probably the only director in Kerala who is still financially insecure even after ten films. There are films that I had worked for free. When 'Rasigan' bombed, I returned the money that I was paid. Similar was the case with 'Pattaalam' too. For my initial films, I had only received something like 1 lakh. That's all. When the producer of 'Achchan Urangaatha Veedu' abandoned the project midways, I had to fund the film too. 'Meesha Madhavan' was a big hit. With the money that I had made, I bought a few cents of land. I had to sell them to repay the 'Rasigan' salary. I rally don't like to maintain strict accounts with friends.
"I actually began to see some money in my hands only after 'Chaandupottu'," he confesses.
It is official, Tamil superstar Rajniknath's next film is going to be Kuchelan, a Tamil remake of the Malayalam film Katha Parayumbol directed by M Mohanan that is making waves in Kerala.
Katha Parayumbol, written by Sreenivasan (he also acted in the film), one of the finest script writers in the country, was recently in Chennai to screen the film for Rajnikanth, his old classmate. The duo studied together at the Adyar Film Institute. Rajni, floored by its simplicity, wanted to act in the film. One wonders whether Sreenivasan got the inspiration for the story from Rajni's life itself!
Anyway, the Malayalam original is about a two classmates -- Sreenivasan (barber) and Mammootty in a guest appearance as a superstar) who lose touch and come face to face after some years have passed. What the villagers in the barber's village don't know is that the barber once helped his classmate realise his dream of becoming a filmstar. Now, as the superstar comes to the village to shoot a film, news of their friendship spreads like wildfire.
The highlight of the film is the last thirty minutes of Mammootty's sterling performance. Now, Rajni will take on Mammootty's role in the Tamil version aptly titled Kuchelan with reference to the lives of Lord Krishna and his poor friend Kuchelan.Pasupathy, who made a great debut in Kamal's Virumaandi will act as the barber while Simran will take on Meena's role (barber's wife).
Co-produced by Seven Arts and K Balachander's Kavithalaya, the Tamil version will be directed by P Vasu, who remade Manichitrathazhu in Tamil as Chandramukhi. P Vasu has clarified that he would make necessary changes with Tamil audience in mind like he did in Chandramukhi. And whether this means that the guest role of the superstar will undergo a change, only time will tell.
This time around too, Malayalam cine industry saw quite a number of heroines packing their bags to leave its coasts for Tamil and Telugu films.
Nayantara continued her impressive performance in other languages. She has moved far away from all the controversies that surrounded Simbu and her. The entire south India loved her in her two-piece bikini suit appearance in 'Billa'. She has now established herself as a strong contender for the No 1 spot in Telugu.
Bhavana entered Tollywood this season.
Padhmapriya made headlines for some peculiar wrong reasons when the director of her film slapped her for no obvious reason. The entire south Indian film industry united and protested against him for this. It looked even more ridiculous when he claimed that he had hit her because she wasn't able to act. Thanks to all the controversies, the film is now doing well.
Nothing much was heard of from Gopika and others.
Meera Jasmine revived her presence in Malayalam with two big hits- 'Vinodayatra' and 'Orey Kadal'. She is going to play the lead role in Sathyan Andhikaat's new film too.
There were some newcomers too- Parvathy Melton ('Hallo'), the breed of young actresses like Roma, Parvathy and others like Samvritha. Muktha decided to switch to Tamil but is now nowhere. Kaveri made a comeback.
But the year belongs to Kavya Madhavan again!
Just when we thought that she was almost as good as over with Dileep now avoiding her, she bounced back with an excellent screen chemistry with Prithviraj in 'Classmates'. She starred with him again in 'Kangaroo'. She has now lost weight and is making a fabulous relaunch in Tamil too!
She is going to remain unbeatable for quite a long time!
The recent release Mulla by ace director Lal Jose turned out to be the kind of movie that Dileep would like to forget. Mulla was just passable fare, but not up to the mark expected from Lal Jose after his hit movies like Arabikkatha and Classmates. It did not make much impact at the box office.
Taking his lessens from Mulla, Dileep is now ready to start with his new film Bodyguard, directed by Siddhique. This is the first time that Siddhique is going to work with Dileep. Dileep is again going to experiment with the action genre. Though almost all his action films flopped, the presence of Siddhique gives a little hope. Siddhique holds an enviable record of being the only director who has created all hit films, both in Malayalam and Tamil.
Johnny Sagarika will produce the film. The heroine is not yet fixed. Shooting will begin in August and the film will be released by November.
Pritviraj is finally becoming the favorites of the senior directors of Mollywood. The actor who was lamenting all these years that he was never given good characters by the big directors in the field will now join with the veteran of the group, Joshy for the new venture 'Robinhood'.
His scriptors of the super hit film ‘Sachi – Sethu’ will pen the scripts for this film which will be produced by P.K Muralidharan and Shantha Murali of Anantha Vision who have earlier created his two blockbusters –‘Classmates’ and ‘Chocolate’.
The actor who has just completed 'Thalappavu' is presently in the sets of Tamil movie 'Vellithirai'. He will join the multi starrer 'Twenty Twenty' next week.
Prithviraj also have plans to team up with the veterans like Shaji Kailas and Fazil, this year. Apart from these projects the actor will also play the lead in the films of Bipin Prabhakar, Biju Arukooty and M Padmakumar.
Tapsee has acted in one film in Tamil. She now plans to make it big in Tamil like Hansika.
So, Tapsee has decided to learn Tamil as it would help script writers and directors to narrate the script to her very easily. This way Tapsee hopes that she will be able to bag many film offers in Tamil.
Hero Nagarjuna will soon vow the Tamil audience. His film ‘Boss’ is being dubbed into Tamil. The film though not a big hit in Telugu is expected to do well in Tamil.
The reason? The film has Nayantara, who is right now in the news for her photos with Simbu and her new film with Dhanush in Tamil.
The film also has Shreya. Rajanikanth’s new film ‘Sivaji’ has Shreya in a prominent role and this is expected to give the film an edge in Tamil. The film is being titled as ‘Solatham Neenaikerin’ in Tamil.
