He hasn’t finished his shoots for Kaalai, Kettavan, and Silambattam but is already on the roll for his next movie. Remember our earlier reports about Simbu finalizing his next project for Lingusamy’s banner Thirupathi brothers? The movie, as yet untitled, will be produced by Lingusamy’s brother Subash Chandra Bose and directed by R. Paneerselvam who served as an assistant director to Lingusamy.
Now, Shriya has been reportedly contacted to be paired opposite Simbu. If sources are to be believed, Shriya has demanded a whopping 65 lakhs to be cast in the movie. However, undaunted by this sum, negotiations are on to rope the lady in for the Simbu starrer. It’ll be a while for us to find out who gets lucky though. However, we’ll bring you the updates.
Since all our leading ladies in film industry have crossed or about to cross their 30s, there was cut throat competition among them to bag the few films left by their juniors. It can be witnessed in the case of Sriya and Trisha who had a neck to neck competition to bag a Malayalam movie with Mollywood actor Prithviraj. Actually, the film makers have booked Trisha for this film but one fine day she was told that Sriya is doing her job in this film and she need not to strain herself anymore for this film.
Mollywood media reports that, Sriya has slashed her remuneration to nearly half to bag this film and that works very well also. But, Trisha says she herself quits the film because she could not adjust her dates for the film. One thing is clear Sriya replaces Trisha in this film.
There were rumors that Trisha keeping in view of her fading film career is keen to get married, her competitor Sriya who hardly find any films these days is even prepared to do item songs to prolong her career few more years. But, now and then she keep condemning this item song news.
Southern sexy siren Sriya is quite upset with the widely circulating gossips about her dancing in the pub under alcohol influence. Some movie web sites and some sections of media have come out with this spicy gossip about Sriya during the last three days. It was reported that, Sriya after gulping down a huge dose of alcohol has danced and created menace in the pub at Chennai. Later, her friends have escorted her to home.
Sriya, who came to know about this spicy gossip burst with anger. She said, “I rarely go to pubs. During the last few weeks, especially on that particular day I did not went to any pub nor taken any alcohol. I don’t understand who is creating these rumors. If, this continues any further, I am going to sue them.”
But, the next day some photos of her taken at the pub while she was dancing under alcohol influence appears in the net as if to support the gossips. However, Sriya denied the photo evidence. She said “They are not my photos. Some people intentionally doing all this nonsense. They have placed the morphed photos in the net. I will drag them to courts unless they remove them immediately and tender unconditional apology to me.”
2011/5/28 12:31:32 There was buzz that, Tollywood hot girl Sriya has signed a Tamil film ‘Shaguni’ opposite handsome hero Karthi. But, she has condemned the news and said, “So far, no one has approached me for that film. If, I got opportunity to work with him, I will be really happy for it. But, to be frank I didn’t get the offer. I came to know that they are planning to introduce new face in their film. Right now, I am busy with my Tamil film ‘Roudiram,” said Sriya.
Perhaps, if someone is there in her place certainly she would have told the media that, she has no time to sign film ‘Shaguni,’ and certainly not the way she spoke now.
Tamil hero Simbu was literally kicked out of a hotel in Nungambakkam recently. The incident took place when Simbu forcibly entered the room of Nayanatara. She immediately raised an alarm and her personal security guards along with the hotel staff dragged Simbu out.
The simmering discontent between the two is too well known to bear repetition. Nayantara was in Chennai in conection with the shooting of her new film with Dhanush. Simbu is accused of circulating intimate photographs of him with Nayantara to the media.
Simbu is not a playboy says his Kettavan co-star and SS Music anchor Lekha Washington. Contrary to popular conception that Simbu is a two-timer, Lekha says that Simbu is a perfect gentleman - something that many of Kollywoods finest actresses who have worked with him will seriously doubt. The actress cannot stop being in awe of the actor.
She says, "He has been put across by many as the bad guy. But he is a perfect gentleman. All the gossip about him being a playboy is not true. And he is a gifted actor too. When I got the offer to act in Kettavan, I was advised to refuse it - Simbu being my co-star. But when I met him, he was nothing like what he was made out to be."
She added, "Simbu is a through professional who always looks at ways in which he can play the roles that he plays the best. He tries to make all his films differently. Kettavan is not the name of the character in his film - it is only the name of the film." While the actress plays the role of an orthodox Brahmin girl, Namitha plays one of Simbu's many lovers. The films' shooting is on and will be over so that the film can be released during Diwali.
Simbu is getting desperate these days. The reason? Post-Nayantara photos episode no heroine seems to be ready to work with him. You are aware that steamy photographs of Simbu and Nayantara appeared in the media recently.
It is believed that Simbu was the man who leaked them to the media or so Nayantara believes. With such a reputation it is no wonder that all the heroines that Simbu approached for his next film refused flatly. It is not just the established heroines but even a newcomer is reported to have flatly refused to work with him.
Thimiru'director Tarun Gopi has shelved his'Agaraadhi'and has taken up a new project.
Produced by Nik Arts Chakravarthy, the project that Tarun Gopi is to direct is more or less finalized. The film is titled ‘Kaala'after the hero of the film and not for an animal.
Simbu has been cast in the title role as being the most suitable for the role.'Silambattam'directed by cameraman Saravanan and'Kaala'could start at the same time according to Kodambakkam sources.
Trisha has been approached to do the heroine role. She and Simbu are good friends and they have also co-starred in'Alai.'Though the film did not make waves, the Simbu-Trisha combo was explosive. Because she’s Simbu’s friend, they expect her to give call sheet.
Dasari Narayana Rao has bagged the remake rights for Simbu's film Kalai for a undisclosed sum. Simbu plays a variety role in this film. Simbu is well known to the Telugu audience,. His dubbed films Manmadhan and Vallavan were dubbed into Telugu earlier. His latest film Kettuvan is also likely to be dubbed into Telugu.
Simbu, a multitalented personality just like his father, is one of the brightest young heroes in Kollywood. The last time Simbu was seen in the big screen was a year ago in Vallavan, which also happened to be his directorial venture. But due to various reasons, he kept a low profile for a while and sprang up all guns blazing with three movies – Kaalai, Kettavan and Silambaattam.
This star shocked our special correspondent by saying that he doesn’t like to be called Simbu anymore. He said “I was named Silambarasan by my parents, and I always want to be Silambarasan, not Simbu.”
Silambarasan, the little superstar, said that his Silambaattam will be a commercial potboiler and would impress fans from 6–60 years. He also assured that the film would be lapped up by the family audiences. Simbu revealed that when cinematographer Saravanan wanted to narrate a story for a film he rejected it outright based on the assumption that cinematographer-turned-directors always came up with artistic movies. But when Saravanan started explaining the story, Simbu realized that it was an outright commercial film and gave bulk dates immediately. With three movies set to release this 2008 for Silambarasan, Behindwoods hopes that 2008 proves to be a Silamb(arasan’s)attam.
Bollywood sex bomb Mallika Sherawat knows how to stay in the public glare all the time. She took Bollywood by storm and stunt everyone with her 'dare-bare' attitude. Now, she is all set to heat up South Indian cinema too. Well, the news is doing the rounds that she is going to smooch with Tamil cinema smooching king Simbu in a new film. Sexy actress Mallika first appeared in Tamil film with Kamal Hassan in Dasavatharam.
She also had done an item number in a Kannada film. She is coming back to Tamil with a difference. It is said that hot actor Simbu is roping her to his next film. He is also planning a kissing scene with her. In fact, Simbu is the Emraan Hashmi of Kollywood. His lip kiss with Nayantara in Vallavan created a lot of furor not long ago. Now, he said that Mallika has agreed to his lip kiss proposal. Well, Simbu seems to be ready for another kiss and so too is Mallika. Let's wait and watch!
Actor Simbu is all set to start his new film Silambattam on December 7th, Friday, under the banner of Lakshmi Movie Makers (LMM) for whom it will be their 25th film. It is also going to be the directorial debut of cameraman Saravanan. Gossiped with Sneha and Sneha Ullal earlier, Simbu ruled out all those actresses and has a new Mumbai model Sana Khan as the female lead.
Simbu is playing the role of an innocent young boy, like the one he had done in Manmathan. In this film, he plays the role of Poojari of a local temple, who due to some circumstances takes law in his hands and punish the baddies.
Hats off to Pyramid Saimira, who are trying their best to promote good and meaningful cinema. Please note Onbadhu Roobai Nottu is not a Pyramid film and they are not even marketing it!
Kaalai is currently the hottest upcoming film in Kollywood which has brought together young talents like director Tarun Gopi of Thimiru fame and little super star Simbu. This duo has become the topic of discussion in Kodambakkam now when the news about their brawl at shooting spot began to leak.
It was reported that during the shooting of Kaalai, there surfaced some kind of difference of opinion between the director and the lead actor Simbu who totally losing control of himself, was alleged to have beaten up Tarun Gopi. When the matter was probed with the director, he denied the entire incident vociferously and added that this is only a figment of imagination of people who are envious of the relationship that he shares with Simbu.
He is also quick to point out, “I play the role of villain in Simbu’s Kettavan, the shooting for which is beginning today and he is in my film. We are good friends and people who are not able to tolerate our friendship and my success are responsible for starting this malicious rumor”.
2006/11/16 13:21:30 The success meet of 'Vallabha' directed by Simbu and produced by Bellamkonda Suresh on the banner of Essar Entertainments with Simbu and Nayanatara in the lead was held at the unit's office recently. Dialogue writer Shashank Vennelakanti says, 'Simbu is an all-rounder. He had showed his caliber not only as an artiste, but also as a story writer, lyricist, singer and director. The reason behind the success of 'Vallabha' is nothing but Simbu's talent. I can find a Rajanikant and a Kamal Hassan in him. That is why the film attracted the youth in particular. 'Manmadha' is my first film and 'Vallabha' is my second venture. I don't say we worked hard for this film, instead say we showed interested to work in this film.' Chandrabose says, 'I penned certain lyrics like that of a straight film.' Vennelakanti says, 'My son had not only written dialogues for the film, but also gave dubbing to Simbu. He was able to extract good songs for the film.' One of the producers Ramesh says, 'Simbu played a role with different shades in this film and his performance is a highlight and one of the first reasons for the success of the film. His performance is quite natural.' Producer Bellamkonda Suresh says, 'There are several reasons for the success of this film, which include, Simbu's performance, his talent in direction, Nayanatara's glamorous role, performance by Rimasen and Sandhya. At the same time, music had added flavour to it. Now not only the youth but the family audiences are also watching the film with equal interest.' Responding to the agitation on the wall posters, he says, 'This is a business worth crores of rupees. We okayed those posters only to attract the audiences to the theatre. But when some people raised objection, we immediately removed all of them. We apologise in case, if we hurt the sentiment of any section. Not only the film publicity posters the women's associations should also wage a war against the obscene hoardings of various FM radio channels and other companies.
We had reported sometime back that Simbu would not step into the directors' arena again and would concentrate on his acting career instead. And arrangements are already underway for his next film. While Simbu is busy on his side with work for his next film, his father, Rajendar is also busy making arrangements and is listening to stories from various wannabe directors. One such person, an associate of Cheran, also tried his luck, and met Rajendar to narrate a story.
"Sir, according to the story, you will be playing the role of father to Simbu…" and before he could finish the sentence, Rajendar hastily shouted saying, "Stop…stop…I am father to Simbu only in real life not in reel life. In reel life, I am still a top hero who commands crores of money as salary…Even if you dump billions on me, I won't act as a father. Even to Simbu….!" Do we need to even explain how the associate ran away after this?
Not so long ago, Simbu was known for his antics at film sets and mood swings with his co-stars that had brought him a bad name. Soon after, he had resorted to meditation and yoga to calm down and looks like it did prove successful in throwing his temper tantrums out of the window.
He was reportedly punctual on the sets of Kaalai and was seen keeping his cool. At a time when everyone was trying to comprehend this reformed actor, recent unfortunate incidents seemed to have backfired, making him loose his temper again.
He was quick enough to realize it this time around and has returned to his old ways of cooling his heels by meditating and practicing yoga as means of pacifying himself. Signs of maturity from the youngster, for sure. His efforts have drawn praise from his close quarters too. "I am very straight forward, maybe a bit too much for comfort. Whatever I feel, I say it on the face. Some people misunderstand me for that", Simbu said when asked about the recent episode in Vijay TV where he had a tussle with small screen actor, Prithviraj.
Let's hope Simbu's straightforwardness doesn't get him into anyone else's bad books.
2011/8/25 13:53:07 The southern film circuit sexy siren Sriya speaking to media has said that, if she is confined to glamour roles it is not her mistake and she should not be blamed for it, because she is not the one who creates the characters in the movies.
“Many people often ask me why am I confined to glamour roles only? Actually, no actress in the industry wants to remain a glamour doll forever. Everyone look for a role that brings out the talent of an actress. I am also looking for such role since a long time, but I didn’t get one until now. So, I always try to showcase my talents even playing glamour doll roles. It is director, who designs a character and selects the heroine for his character in the film. So, all it depends on the director.”
Talking about her Bollywood and Hollywood career, “I don’t think there is any difference between these Woods. As far as I am concerned, I don’t see any difference between these Woods. All these Woods are mere creation for our convenience only. After all these Woods come under big Wood, that is Indian film industry. So, I am not bothered about where and in which language I am doing. I am only concerned about my role in the film. I try to give my best everywhere,” says the hot babe.
Although, she finds no difference between these Woods, don’t know why her first preference always remain Bollywood.
The Tamil Nadu Government’s move to restrict the use of English titles for Tamil movies with a tax exemption for movies that has a Tamil title was welcomed by all. But when the Chief Minister Karunanidhi decided not to give the tax exemptions for films with offensive titles many films got affected. Films like Udambu Yeppadi Irukku, Porukki, Kettavan, Pollathavan all came under the scanner.
Now Sundar C’s movie Porukki is all set to undergo a title change. And this time they have decided on a catchy and trendy title and the Superstar in Sivaji uses this word. That’s right; Porukki will from now on be christened “Adhirudhulla.” But the little superstar Simbu is in no mood to change the title of his movie, as the name Kettavan is the perfect name to convey the character of the protagonist. Let’s see whether Simbu gets away with this one or not.
Selvaragavan's Yaradi Nee Mohini became the first super hit of the summer in Tamil Cinema. After the success of Billa-2007, it is the second in a row for actress Nayantara and the producers automatically hiked her salary to a whopping one crore per film.
At present, she is acting with Ajith in Aegean and with Vishal in Sathyam. Both the films have good talks in the trade circles and now the actress is going to play the lead role against Vijay in Singam directed by Prabhu Deva.
To maintain her numero uno status in Tamil, the actress decided to limit her commitments in Telugu and opts to stay in Chennai for more time. But what really scares her is ex-boy friend Simbu's unwanted visits and interferences. After her unexpected meet with the actor in the recently held hunger strike, it is alleged that Simbu has slowly started his usual games like sending SMS and emissaries to convince her.
Will Nayan stick on her self - imposed iron curtain status in Simbu's case? Wait and watch!
Namitha, referred as the oomph girl of Kollywood is smart, extremely confident and knows exactly what she wants. After she did a couple of films with senior stars in the industry, Nami has gone for a total image make-over doing small but significant roles in films with top young stars like Vijay and Ajit.
And in Billa with Ajit, she is said to be rocking as her director Vishnuvardhan cant stop speaking about the manner in which she looks glamorous with the right attitude. Namitha spoke from Mysore where she is shooting for a Kannada film: “I am doing a film with Darshan the hot star of Kannada and it is a remake of Arasufrom Tamil. This is my second Kannada film and here I’m getting good performance oriented roles.”
On reports in Tamil dailies that she has been replaced in Simbu’s Kettavan the actress is quick to reply: “I don’t know who spreads such rumours. I am shooting with Simbu from September 3 and it is a very good role for me.”
Now will Simbu stop talking about Mandira Bedi’s and Sherin’s dying to work with him, and instead concentrate on his work and let the box-office speak.
"Arai en 305il kadavul’ is the next film which will be produced by director Shankar under his banner S Pictures. Simbu Devan who shot to fame with his directorial venture ‘Imsai Arasan will be directing this film. ‘Arai en 305il kadavul’ also will fall into the comedy genre, a subject that Simbu Devan seems to be adept in handling and delivering.
Kanja Karuppu and Santhanam, comedians of Kollywood have been elevated to the status of hero in this film but will continue to tickle the funny bones of the audience in the capacity of comedians. When the director was questioned about the strange title of the movie as to whether the number had any numerological link with producer Shankar whose favorite number is 8, Simbu Devan denied this. On the contrary, he asserted that 305 is his room number when he used to stay in a mansion during his journalist days. ‘Arai en 305il kadavul’ features Prakash Raj in a key role and the music of the film is being scored by Vidya Sagar.
